Exhausted Moms Gather In An Empty Field To Scream Together

None of us had it easy with the pandemic, but there are certain groups of people that have faced particular challenges. Except for healthcare workers, to whom we will be forever grateful, parents didn’t have it as easy too – and this is especially the case for moms!

Navigating the pandemic with kids has been really tough. Have you tried navigating through work with childcare, day centers, and schools shut down? Oh, and put dealing with the inconsistency and chaos on the table, and you start to get the picture.

The pandemic forced us all to forget some of the things we relied on to keep our lives running smoothly, and, as we all know, moms take on the hardest part of childraising. So, sometimes, you just want to scream!

We’re all exhausted. We’re all wiped out. We’re done!

Editor Lucy Huber recently shared that her online mom group had invited her, and fellow moms, to an empty field just to scream. Yes, you read that right.

Yes, some days all you really want to do is scream out loud!

So, the group gathered at a high school i the Boston area, and around 20 moms were led by licensed therapist Sarah Harmon. And they screamed their lungs out!

The New York Times had set up a ‘primal scream’ hotline for parents that just want to call and scream, or vent about anything they need to.
The hotline number is 212-556-3800, and the Times’ editor Jessica Bennett said that any of their readers or anyone who is not a reader can call to scream.

“We’ve been hearing for months now about how women have been disproportionately affected in the pandemic and we’ve been hearing about parents who are struggling to manage work and child care.” – she told WCBS Newsradio.
